Construction- First draft music video and Evaluation

Music video 1st draft





Evaluation

This is the first draft of my music video. What the draft shows is that i have completed the timeline of the video which includes the modifying and cutting of the clips used in order to compose the timeline. Furthermore, i have uploaded the sound track and have cut it where appropriate in order for it to match the visuals. So far, some of the techniques and features that i have explored while using the programme `Premier Pro` that are also present in the draft video is the zooming in of some of the shots to make them close up in order to portray towards the audience the facial expressions and emotions of the character.


Following what i have already done, what i am planning to do for the final construction of my music video is explore and add some effects such as saturation and brighten the video so it can match the mood of the song. Also, i will be using the lumetri colour in order to make the colours more saturated so they can portray the positivism of the song.


At 1.20m into the video, there is a shot of the girl laying on the floor in her room and singing `never wanna be on two separate  pages`. I am planning to convert this shot into a split screen as this will demonstrate the use of Godwin`s theory or lyrics linked to visuals as the line of the song `two separate pages` will be shown by the use of the split screen which will be referred as 2 separate pages.
Later, when the two characters have a small argument on the phone over the fact that the male did not pick up the phone when the girl was calling him i will add subtitles in order to paint a clear picture of the situation at this part of the video as it may be a bit unclear tothe audience why the female character is frustrated and annoyed at the boy.


After completing this, i will be creating opening and closing credits wchich will be added at the opening shot of the video and at the closing shot, in order to inform the audience with the composition of the music video and which person has compelted each part such as director, camera work and editing of the video.

Camera Shot list

As one of my planning strategies i have completed a camera shot list in which i have stated the camera shot angle at which i am planning to do each shot as well as what the planned camera shot movement will be.
The most common angle at which my shots will be taken from is knee level. A knee level shot is whe the camera is height is about as low as the subjects` knees, therefore this angle emphasize the superiority of a character especially if paired with a low angle. The knee level shots will be taken of the girl in order to portray her dominance and protagonist role in the music video.

Planning- Story board first draft

Story Board

This photos show the story board that i have developed as a planning method of my music video. The story board is a visual way of portraying what the plot of the story will be and give the audience a rough idea of what to expect. In the story board i have included the angle and shot types that i will be using. This is important in order to make the shooting much easier as i would have a visual plan to follow as well as a rough idea of how the story is planned to go. 

This is my first story board draft, therefore some shots of the music video may differ from what was planned to be shot looking at the story board. As a result of this, after having finished the shooting of my music video i will develop a new story board that will include any changes that may have been made.
