Construction logo design- 30/10/2019

Draft designs for logo

These are the initial draft designs for the logo of my artist.

This is the final logo design that i have chosen for my artist. The font that i have used in developing this logo is `Trajan Color`. The font is a serif typeface therefore it is the appropriate one as its distinct characteristics give people a feeling of elegance, confidence and trustworthy. It transmits a sense of proffesionalism as a result of the small strokes attached to the end of the larger stroke in a letter. I have used open sans light in the logo as it fits more closely with the artist as a female as it symbolises her smoothness and purity whereas the open sans is a font that would suit being used for a male artist as it is a more strong and harsh font.
The colour used in the logo is gold, mainly because it symbolises modernity and professionalism. Furthermore, it is a saturated colour and conveys positive energy to the audience.
This logo will also appeal to the Explorer and Aspirer. It will attract the attention of the Explorers as they are the sort of people that like to try the new stuff. Therefore the gold will make the logo stand out and as it is not as simplistic they would be interested in it. Furthermore, it will relate and appeal to the Aspirer as they are materialistic people who seek the more attractive and better quality products as well as the more trendy, therefore the gold will match what they are looking for as it has the connotations of luxury.

Construction-production company name& design

Production company design

This is my production company design. I have developed it by using the programme Photoshop. The design is quit simplistic, however using the 3D effect makes the design effective as it makes it eye catching and stand out. The colour i have used for it is yellow-orange which is a colour that transmits positivity, clarity and optimism therefore it reflects the idea of the music video which will be aimed at a fun-loving audience. Furthermore, it establishes a relationship between the production company design and the music video itself.
The `MKA` stands for the initials of my name.

Planning- Risk Assessment

Risk assessment

Before i start shooting my music video i have completed a risk assessment form in order to identify any hazards/risks that the contributers in the music video as well as me- the producer may be exposed to. Completing a risk assessment will furthermore allow me to develop actions that i can take in order to minimize the hazards and ensure the health and safety of all contributers in the music video that will be on scene and present when i shoot my music video.

Planning- Location Scouting

Planning- location scouting

This will be the location used for the opening shots where as the video starts we see the female character waking up after her alarmed has go on.
The location is clearly an inside location and it is in the bedroom of the female character. The colours which are present at this location are mostly saturated and brigh colours such as the light grey, bringht pink and white coloured walls. The only unsaturated and dull colour that can be seen is the black colour of the bed. The colours of this location match the audience as the video is supposed to be targetted at a `fun and loving` audience therefore the colours that would be suitable and support this demogrpahic and target are the saturated colour which will portray the positivity.

This location is still an inside one and it is located right next to the bed (previous location analysed). After the opening scene the female will be seen applying her make up and therefore getting ready to go out in front of this mirror. The silver outlines of the mirror can symbolise the modernity and the high tech of the video. The sparkly silver symbolises modernty therefore referring to the time period of the shooting of the video- in a post modern era, where the quality is a very important factor and aspect. Therefore, the silver of the mirror makes the mise en scene look more formal, glamorous and modern therefore appealing to the young demographic targetted of 16-25 year olds.

This location is in the room of the male character and will be used when he is sitting and making music- writing lyrics at the same time when the female calls him but he does not pick up. His phone will be behing him on the bed and there will be a close up shot of the phone at that point in order to show that the girl is callling him. It will be made visible that the phone is not next to him (but on the bed behind) therefore making the audience aware that this is one of the reasons why he is not answering the phone, as it is not next to him and because he is currently focused and concentrated on something else.

This will be the main location used in the music video. Shots at this location will include the opening shots where the female character wakes up, shots where the female is just laying down and scrolling through her phone and shots where she is singing to the audience which will be an example of how the music shows the performance genre, as well as a narrative ( showed in all the other shots which tell the story of the video) which results in the video being a hybrid which is a combination of performance and narrative.

Location- Harlow College

At around 2minutes in the video the location changes to Harlow College where the protagonist at that point is the male. I have chosen this location as it relates to the age of the target audience which is 16-25 year olds. The college is asetting where there are mostly young people therefore this is portrayed at this part of my video.

Location-- Restaurant

The shots at the restaurants represent the moment where the equilibrium is re-established. The location is suitable for my music video as it is a location associated with positivty which is what i am conveying with my music video. Furthermore, the location is reflecting the target socio-economic target of my music video which is C1, as insividuals which go to restaurants must have the disposable income to do that. The restaurant that the ending shots of the music video were shot in is a newly build restaurant therefore the design and layout is newly designed, this would appeal to the audience as the audience will be expecting nice, new and well designed locations rather than locations that are old and derrelict.

Location- Sainsbury`s

This location is when the girl is shopping where she later runs into her friend that she hasn`t seen in a long time. The loation is suitable for this scene in specifi because females are associated with shopping therefore in setting this scene in a locaiton such as Sainsbury`s which is a shopping location conforms to the stereotypes.

Location Scouting documents

The Location Scouting Sheet provides information on the address of the external locations which is useful as it can minimise any hazards after knowing where the shots were taking.

Planning- Synopsis

Synopsis

Song:
Love language- Kehlani
Lyrics

[Verse 1]
A lot of ways to love you, teach me through your eyes
What is needed for you, needed in your life?
Don't wanna go shoppin', you want picnics in the park
Do you like mornings? Should we do it in the dark?

[Pre-Chorus]
It's all foreign to me, I don't speak what you speak
I'll commit to learnin' if you, if you
You're a sweet fantasy, singin' your ABCs
Please be patient with me, with you

[Chorus]
Said I wanna be fluent in your love language
Learnin' your love language
I know I don't speak your language
But I wanna know more, baby
Fluent in your love language
Learnin' your love language
I know I don't speak your language
But I wanna know more, baby

[Verse 2]
Never wanna get lost in translation
Never wanna be on two separate pages
Swear to me that you'll state facts
If you can take back, know I can take that
I been workin' at it, hoping that you'd notice
I been waitin', I just needed you to focus
Swear to me that you'll show me
Need you to coach me, then we can proceed

[Pre-Chorus]
And still, it's all foreign to me, I don't speak what you speak
I'll commit to learnin' if you, if you
You're a sweet fantasy, singin' your ABCs
Please be patient with me, with you

[Chorus]
Said I wanna be fluent in your love language (Your love)
Learnin' your love language (Oh)
I know I don't speak your language (No)
But I wanna know more, baby
Fluent in your love language (Love)
Learnin' your love language (Love)
I know I don't speak your language (No)
But I wanna know more, baby

[Instrumental Break]

[Chorus]
Said I wanna be fluent in your love language
Learnin' your love language
I know I don't speak your language
But I wanna know more, baby
Fluent in your love language (Love)
Learnin' your love language (Love)
I know I don't speak your language (No)
But I wanna know more, baby

The synopsis will be 500 words long approx. and will consist of information on the music videos narrative, use of visuals and discuss how media theory (narratology and representation is applied) – discuss whether the video conforms to or subverts established conventions.

Synopsis

The song that i will be using for my music video is Love Language by Kehlani. In my music video there are going to be 3 actors in total, 2 females and 1 male, with the 2 main roles being given to the girl with the blonde girl. Throughout the music video it will be showing a timeline of how their friendship ends up in a relationship, even though neither of them expected such a turning point. At the beginning, there are going to be shots of their friendship and the individual life of both protagonists. As the video progresses it will show how they are learning the ``love language`` as the lyrics states. However, at the middle, there will be shots of how they argue therefore referring to the song and the line of `i know i don`t speak your language``, which is implying that they have not yet learned how to proper communicate and have some conflicts. This would therefore relate to Todorov`s theory of equilibrium as in the beginning the girl in the boy are in good relations therefore in a state of equilibrium, however as the video progresses a conflict becomes present therefore a disruption of the equilibrium and at the end when they end up in a relationship portraying that the equilibrium is restored. The events will be shown in a chronological order which is ordering events in accordance with the time sequence in which they have occurred.

Representation will be shown in my music video, throught the use of the different characters. For example, the representation of the black male character will challenge stereotypes held about black people as deprived and poor. Furthermore, his representation will challenge the theory of Gilory of black males being represented in a negative way as a result of the colonialism in the past. His representation of my music video will be positive as throughout the video and especially in the setting of the restaurant he will be represented in a positive light through the technical codes such as the way he is dressed- in a suit and with formal shoes. Furthermore, he is being a gentleman which create a overall positive representation.
One of the representations of the female character will be that she is emotionally weaker than the male as when the disequilibrium occurrs she is upset which therefore conforms to Van Zoonen`s theory of females being emotionally weaker than the males.

The locations that i am planning to use are both internal and external. Some of the clips of the first female will be internal- in her bedroom. The conflict between the girl and the boy has arisen as the girl witnessed the boy with another girl and therefore becomes jealous and angry as she thought that he is talking and becoming closer with another girl. However in fact the other girl is just a friend of the boy and they were studying together in college and following this he drove her home, which is when the girl saw them together.

I am planning to explore and show a variety of shots such as close up shot, mid shots and full shots. The extremely close up shots and close up shots will be used at the point of the split screen when the female and the male are in their bedrooms. That will be an appropriate time to use these shots, in order to allow the audience to see their facial expressions which will convey their emotions at the point at which they are in a conflict. As the lyrics of the song is implying how a couple did not know the ``love language`` so they could not communicate with each other, this will be shown in my music video when the female and the male are arguing which can demonstrate their frustration and the process of them learning how to communicate with each other. The genre of the song is pop therefore the video will be mostly be transmitting positivity and happy events with only one disruption of the equilibrium showing that the video will conform to the genre conventions. Furthermore, at the point where the equilibrium is disrupted the enigma code- Barthes will be used to build up the tension and leave the audience guessing how the story will end up and whether the conflict will be resolved.
My music video will be a hybrid as it will consist of both narrative and performance. As the music video will consist of a story this will portray the narrative part, however the first female character will also be performing the song in some of the clips which shows the performance part of the video, resulting in the video being a hybrid. This is a very common type of a music video as it is the most interesting to the audience and therefore will allow the audience to engage the most.
